What is NewsTrain?
- APME NewsTrain is a two-day workshop designed for middle managers. It was developed by journalists to provide practical advice to improve editing and management skills for frontline editors.
- In 2003 the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) received a three-year grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to create this national training program. The goal is to provide high-quality, low-cost training to frontline editors at 40 regional workshops around the nation.
- NewsTrain will help editors develop more expertise and grow in their careers, and help news organizations strengthen their newsrooms. With this program, we hope to help make training an essential part of the fabric of the newsroom.
